mad-as-a-marine-biologist: Crazy-Halo-Rainbow-Sun-Thingymijig. Anyone got a proper name for it?  Sun Halo is the correct term. There’s also as well ones called 22º Halo, 46º Halo, etc. It all happens due to the light reflecting and refracting through the ice crystals in the atmosphere. The inner border is a beautiful red, indicating it is probably a 22º Halo.
